The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board conducts the West Bengal Joint Entrance Exam. It is a state-level exam. This exam is meant for students seeking admissions to engineering and pharmacy courses at universities and technical institutions in the state of West Bengal. This examination is conducted in offline mode. 

The application for this examination is online. This exam is held once in a year. In 2020, the exam was held on 2nd February.  The duration of the exam is 2.5 hours. There are more than 100 colleges that accept the WBJEE (West Bengal Joint Entrance Exam) score. The courses are provided by private and government educational institutions. The eligibility criteria for this examination is given below.

  • The applicant should be a citizen of India.
  • The lower age limit is 17 years. There is no upper age limit.

Academic Qualifications For Engineering

  1. Applicants should have cleared their 10+2 exam with Physics and Mathematics, along with anyone of the following as compulsory subjects:
  • Chemistry
  • Biology
  • Biotechnology
  • Computer Applications
  • Computer Science
  • Technical Vocational Subjects
  1. Only regular students are eligible.
  2. A minimum score of 45% marks (40% for ST/SC) in maths and physics along with biology or biotechnology or chemistry or technical vocational subjects or computer science is mandatory.
  3. The Board of the qualifying exam should be recognized by the State or the Central Government.

Academic Qualifications For Pharmacy

  • The applicants should have cleared their 10+2 exam with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/ Mathematics as mandatory subjects:
  • The applicants should score at least 45% marks in the above three subjects taken together. SC, ST, PWD, OBC-A and OBC-B students need to secure 40% marks.
  • The applicants should have passed English in their (10+2) exam with at least 30% marks.
  • The Board of the qualifying exam should be recognized by the State or the Central Government.

Steps to Check the Results

  1. Login to the Official website.
  2. Enter the application number and password.
  3. The exam result and the rank card will be displayed on the screen.
  4. Applicants can download the rank card and take a print out for future references.

After the declaration of the results, candidates have to appear for the counseling sessions. Aspirants can then choose their desired courses and colleges depending on their score.
